  3. OVERVIEW OF 1ST QUARTER REPORT

Highlights Inspections • 4 targeted inspections conducted • Involved inspections on 65 retailers, • Spanned 9 municipalities, in two Provinces. • Inspections related to: returns, refunds, labelling and expired goods. • 9 inspection reports were produced; Findings: • Altered and falsified labelling • No labelling on foodstuffs (ingredients, name of producer) Way forward: Follow up inspection to be conducted to ensure adherence to consent agreements

Highlights Recalls • Remington model 700 and model seven rifles with x-Mark Pro (XMP) triggers by Remington Arms Company LLC. • Pet food (Bobtail, Dogmor, Bonzo and dealer own brands) withdrawal by Foodcorp. • Toyota Corolla airbag inflator -Toyota South Africa Motors. • Dyson AM04 and AM05, as well as Dyson tower heater / fan combination-by Dyson Limited. • Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Orlando tubular drive shaft replacement- by General Motors South Africa. • Apple Adapters Way forward: Ongoing Monitoring of progress

  11. ACHIEVEMENTS AGAINST PLANNED TARGETS

  12. Achievements against planned targets- Summary • 15 out of 20 targets fully achieved; • 5 not fully achieved: - 1716 were received- 1300 were analysed and assessed within 2 working days. This equates to 76% achievement instead of the target of 95%. Assessment criteria- recently revised- limited understanding of assessment- outstanding matters dealt with in July 2014 - off 1716 complaints- 880 resolved in ten working days- this equates to 51% of complaints resolved (as opposed to meeting target of 70% of within 60 working days)- mainly due to email system failure following power outage.

  13. Achievements against planned targets- Summary - Research for the year was identified, submitted to Deputy Commissioner but not submitted to Exco; - Risk register reviewed. Risk Assessments done; Strategy not reviewed in Q1. (review finalised already in Q2) - 28 Positions were advertised in the latter part of the fourth Quarter of 2013/14. No positions advertised in 1st quarter. Shortlisting and interviews were finalised for 22 posts. 20 out of 22 positions were filled. 2 Offers pending and remaining 6 positions will be finalised in the next quarter.
