Commutative properties! • Commutative addition properties means that changing the order of the numbers does not change the sum.-example:8+6=6+8! • Commutative multiplication properties means that changing the order of factors does not change the product.-example:8*6=6*8!
Associative properties! Associative properties means how you change your factors does not change the sum or product. Addition example:(2+3)+5=2+(3+5) Multiplication example:(2*3)*5=2*(5*3) What ever two numbers you put first does not matter, as you get the same product or sum both ways.
Identity Properties! Identity addition means whatever number/variable added to zero is the number itself. Example:4+0=0 Identity multiplication means whatever number is multiplied by 1 is the number itself-example:4*1=4
Distributive property! Distributive property is multiplying a number by the sum of 2 or more numbers which is the same as multiplying the number indvidually by the other 2 or more numbers. Example:3(2+5)=6+15
Equality properties! addition and subtraction equality means if the same number is added/subtracted to both sides of the equation, the two sides remain equal-example:2+2,3+2=2+3,5=5 and 5=5,5-4=5-4,1=1 Multiplication and division equality means the same number is divided/multiplied to both sides of the equation, the two sides remain equal-example:15=15,15/3=15/3,5=5 and 2=2,2*2=2*2,4=4
Inverse properties! Inverse properties means that when a number is combined with its inverse it is equal to its identity. Addition example:3+(-3)=0 Multiplication example:3/1*1/3=1
