THE FLYING EGGS! The Shanghai Executive Training Group at Warwick University undertook one of the many management training exercises available, called the Flying Egg! Each team were given materials which they may use to make the egg fly from a first floor window and land on the ground without cracking it. They were given 15 minutes to plan and build the mechanism! TEAM B TEAM A This is a great exercise and good fun! It is a good learning process for effective team working, leadership, delegation, planning, decision making, time keeping and creativity The key importance of the exercise is to spend time planning and discussing collectively how to make the egg fly, not just the “doing” it. Taking time out afterwards to review what went well with the exercise and what could have been done better is also a critical part of the learning process for continuous improvement purposes. All these skills are necessary for effective everyday working.
