Registration and Initial Assessment • Completion of PLSS Expression of Interest Form • (Piloting completion of PLSS Learner Registration Form at Registration) • Completion of CMETB ESOL Initial Assessment Tool • CEFRL Benchmarked • Based on ESOL Scotland model • 3 versions available – Standard, ESOL Literacy & Skills For Work • Detailed Handbook to accompany Initial Assessment
The ESOL Journey – ‘The CMETB Way” Registration & Initial Assessment Streaming Progression Mainstreaming
Streaming • Learners are streamed to the most appropriate level based on the assessment results. The following courses are currently offered through CMETB ESOL Service: • ESOL Beginners • ESOL Elementary • QQI Level 3 • Reading/Writing/Listening & Speaking QQI Level 2 • ESOL Pre-Level 4 Bridging Programme (+ Setting Learning Goals/Computer Skills/Using Technology QQI Level 2) • Mainstream Literacy Programmes at QQI Level 3 and/or 4 (‘Linkage Programme’)

Mainstreaming & Other Provision • Relevant modules at QQI Levels 3, 4 or 5 • ESOL Primary Schools Programme – Targeted at local Primary Schools through the Home School Liaison Officers and run under Family Learning • ‘World of Work’ – Integrated, multi-agency Programme: • CMETB ESOL Service • CMETB Adult Education Guidance and Information Service • Monaghan Integrated Development CLG (SICAP Programme) • ‘FailteIsteach’ (Third Age Ireland)
Other Initiatives – Skills For Work/ Workplace English • Strong links with Regional Skills For Work Co-Ordinator on delivery of Workplace Language Support Programme and/or Preparation/Bridging Programmes:
