  10. Product Plan • Currently main focus are on SIDAC and SPD/OVP lines • Future product plan - Protection components: Gas Discharge Tube (GDT), Varistor, ESD components. - Thyristors: Triac, SCR.

Market Status • TVS diodes appeared in the early 80’s as the first practical semiconductor solution to surge protection. • In late 80’s and early 90’s, the SIDAC technology of thyristor products has been identified as a candidate for the primary surge protection device that telephone industry searched for. • SIDAC thyristor has found a new market needs in mid 90’s because of fast growth in Internet, multimedia, computer, auto industry and consumer electronics with surge sensitive circuitry. • Currently there are more governing agencies of health, safety, consumer and others are mandating the requirement of surge protection on all electronic equipment under Transient Immunity Standards.

Market Status • ST Microelectronics -Started in thyristor business by buying TAG, strong in Europe. -The thyristor business occupies small share and with weaker support. • Teccor (LittelFuse) -Wholly owned subsidiary of Company “Siebe”, specializing in thyristor products. -Has been merged by LittelFuse in 2003. • ON Semi -Divested from thyristor business in 2000, focus on power management ICs now. • Bourn, Shindengen
