Robotic Inspection for a more efficient High Mast Light Pole Evaluation
Every five years the FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) requires all High Mast Light Poles (HMLP) on our nation’s highways be inspected. Most conventional inspections today consist of a manual visual inspection of the pole from the ground. Inspectors may use binoculars to view the higher portions of the light pole and luminaries. Notes and pictures are taken if any deficiencies are identified. Bringing ancillary inspections like High Mast Light Poles into the 21st century would require a more thorough inspection.
