Government – Constitutional Republic---how is this different than ours? • Form of government which the country is considered “public matter”, not a private concern or property of rulers, where offices of state are directly or indirectly elected or appointed. • Our government is a democracy which means “rules by people” and republic means “rule by elected officials” • All republics are democracies but not all democracies are republics

  5. Enviormental Problems • Water pollution – contaminated lakes and dinking water • Soil erosion – vegetation is cleared leading to this • Deforestation – Substinence farming and need resources cause this • Air pollution – caused by industrial activity along with vehicle activity

  6. Solutions to help • Regulations and laws, like the TPA law to stop wildfire and forestry problems, are being passed to stop people from hurting the environment • Using “Super tree” technology to try to stop air pollution • Made new water pipes and started using a sanitation program to help stop water pollution

  7. Are these efforts successful ? • They are somewhat successful. • Peru’s industries continue to pollute the air even though they want to help the environment. • Although people have helped out with water pollution and what not, there still poses many threats to Peru's environment.
