Overview • Four Key Objectives • Overview of college transfer and collaboration at York University • What does the intake class of college transfer students look like? • How well do they do? • A different view - what does the graduation class of college transfer students look like?
College Transfer and Collaboration at York University • York University is a leader in College-University Collaboration • York has established a comprehensive block transfer credit policy in addition to 14 successful collaborative programs including • BDesign program with Sheridan College and • Collaborative Nursing programs with Seneca and Georgian Colleges • Through this framework, York admits 2,600 students per year as credit transfer or into joint/collaborative programs. • In total, almost 8,200 college transfer and joint degree students are enrolled at York University
Block Transfer Credit Policy • York’s policy provides for a predetermined number of credits/courses or course waivers based on an number of factors: • college program • alignment • years completed • This transfer credit is offered as a matter of policy without special application required and without formal articulation agreements with the colleges.
Block Transfer Credit - Examples • Notes: • Assumes a minimum 70% average • Credit will be assess on a sliding scale based on number of years completed.

Total Enrolments – Fall/Winter 2010 Note: Unique students across all three semesters
New Class – What we know and what we need to find out • Build upon previous study funded by CUCC- published in 2008 • We know: • sending college • program of study at York • performance at York • how much credit transferred (new) • More research is needed on: • what did they study at the college (affinity) • how many years of study • did they graduate
Future Research • Partnership between York and Seneca • York’s biggest ‘trading partner” • build an administrative data set with student records from both institutions • answers the missing questions/look for patterns • college to university and university to college • Special focus on nursing collaborative programs • looking for key success factors
