Tietske Gerrits (b. abt. 1630 in Netherlands, d. in 1666 soon after the birth of Grietje) Came to New Amsterdam (New York City) on the D'Endracht (The Concord) departing April 17, 1664 and arriving at New Amsterdam July, 1664. Settled in Bergan (now part of Jersey City) NJ. English arrived September 24, 1664 and claimed area for England.Jentie, died before 1673 (probably in Manhattan)

Gerrit^2 Janz Van Wicklen bap. 1 January 1659 in Reformed Church at Wijckel, Friesland, NetherlandsCame to Bergan (now part of Jersey City) NJ at age 5 with parents on the D'Endracht (The Concord) departing April 17, 1664 and arriving at New Amsterdam July, 1664. English arrived September 24,1664 and claimed area for England.Gerrit^2’s mother, Tijedtske Gerrits, died in 1666 soon after the birth of his sister, Grietje. His father, Jentie, died before 1673 and his three siblings were brought up in Flatbush, Kings, NY by guardians unknown. Gerrit^2 joined the Flatbush church in June 1681 m. Tryntje Gerrits (b. abt. 1666, Flatbush, Kings, NY) about 1687 in Flatbush, Kings, New York. d. probably in Jamaica, L.I. before 23 December 1722.

4. Garret^3 Van Wicklen b. 13 September 1691 in Jamaica, Queens, NYm. Helena Ammerman (b. 23 September 1700) about 1721 in Jamaica, Queens, NY Garret Van Wicklen moved from Jamaica, NY to Wolver Hollow in 1740 and purchased a farm near the Wolver Hollow church. He died in Wolver Hollow, L.I. before April 29, 1782

5. Paulus^4 Van Wicklen b. 24 February 1732; Jamaica, L.I. Moved to Wolver Hollow NY with his family in 1740 and m. Hendrickye Remsen, abt. 1755 Moved to Dutchess County NY by 1772 Served in the 4th Regt. Dutchess Co. Militia, 1781-2 In 16 Nov 1797 a Paul Van Wickley petitioned for land in Upper Canada, as a settler (was this Paulus^4 or his son Paul^5?). Paulus may have been deceased by the time of the Upper Canada land grant and perhaps the petitioning “Paul” is a son. Some of Paul’s children appear to have moved to Canada after the 1797 land grant.

Margaret Carr (b. 1803, Ontario, Canada) before 1822, Ontario, CanadaLived in Malahide County , Ontario, CN d. before 1870 (Margaret is listed as a widow in 1871 Census of Ontario)

9. Gates^7 Van Wicklin b. 26 January 1823 in Cramahe, Ontario, Canada 1. He had two children by Mary Ann Davis (b. 1849 and d. 1929) of Webster, NY. The two boys Sherman and Edward were born in 1866 and 1868. According to Gates’ Last Will and Testament he apparently did not marry Mary Ann, and he provided for his sons but not Mary Ann in his will. Gates was allegedly a violent, abusive man (told by Gate’s son Sherman to his son, Floyd), and Mary Ann left him when the boys were of preschool age. Gates maintained custody of the boys who worked on the farm. 2. Apparently married Rebecca ______ (b. abt. 1828) before 1881. No children by this marriage. (Also possible that this Rebecca in the household of Gates is his sister, b. 1831). 3. Amy L. Van Wicklin, b. 3 July 1856, ONT., CAN (appears from the 1901 census to be listed as a wife of Gates and possibly the mother of Sherman and Edward's half brothers, George and Claton.d. 31 August 1906 in Cobourg, Ontario of Arterio Schlerosis/Senile Disposition in the Cobourg Gaol (Jail) Infirmary.

10. Sherman^8 Van Wicklin b. 30 August 1866, Brighton Township, Ontario, Canada m. 1. Emma/Amy Montgomery, (b. 3 July 1856, Ontario) d/o George and Lucinda Montgomery, on 2 February 1884 at Brighton, Ontario. Sherman was 17 and Emma was 27 at the time of the marriage. No information on how this marriage terminated-- apparently no children. Emma Van Wicklin may have been buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery Brighton, Ontario in the Montgomery family section on the older east side--however a physical search of the cemetery and a review of cemetery listings has not substantiated this. (Emma's sister, Phoebe Jane, married John Carr, son of Abram and Rhoda Carr--buried in Carr Cemetery with Gates' grandparents, Garret and Rachel (Frost) Van Wicklin. Emma's first cousin, Charlotte, d/o Henry Montgomery, m. John Carr's younger brother George Carr.) Note from Jack Montgomery about Emma Montgomery: There is an Emma Montgomery buring in Hilton Cemetery and she was b. in the same year (1852) as Emma/Amy Montgomery above. She died in 1932. Emma Nix is the name of this lady and she was buried with Albert and Mabel Smith. 2. Alvira Sabin (b. 1874, Ontario and d. 1941 was the dau. of William and Adaline (Brown) SABIN) 1 January 1907, Rochester, NY. Sherman entered the U.S. in 1903 where he farmed/labored in Wyoming NY then moved to Rochester NY. d. 1939 in Rochester, NY.

11. Floyd^9 Van Wicklin b. 1 August 1910, Wyoming, NY Moved to Rochester NY with parents m. 1. Irene McKee (b. 24 September 1917, Belfast, Ireland and d. April, 1969 after struggling many years with cancer) September 1936 2. Marion Strauss abt. 1970 and this marriage was terminated by divorce 3. Evelyn (Salmon) DeWitt abt. 1975 Floyd was an amateur pilot and owned his own plane in the 1960s. He also played the snap base, the trombone, the organ, and the accordion. d. 11 October 2003, Lakeland, FL. (buried 25 October 2003 in Parma Union Cemetery, Parma, NY)

Barbara Lee Johansen (b. 10 September 1945, Spokane, WA) 15 June 1968 Teaneck, NJ  (Barbara is an 11th generation descendent of Adrian Van Der Donk, b. abt 1616 in Breda, Noord Brabant, Netherlands and d. 1655 Hurley, Ulster, New York. Barbara is the dau. of John Muller and Dorothy (Gorish) Johansen. Barbara is BOCES Senior Program Manager for Instructional Excellence in Olean) John VW is professor of psychology at Houghton College, Houghton, NY NY. John and Barbara direct a camp for abused and neglected children called Royal Family Kids' Camp. Alive in 2005

14. Perry^7 Van Wicklin b. 1844, Malahide Township, Elgin, Ontario, Canada. Perry was a cabinet maker living in a boarding house in Detroit, MI at the time of the 1870 US Census. Also residing in this boarding house is Jesse Van Wicklin, an 18 year old female (an unknown sister, other relative, or spouse?) m. Ellen/Ella Eliza Malone (b. 10 May 1854 and d. 19 January 1913 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) on 16 January 1877. In 1889, Perry worked for the Wolverine Chair Factory as a cabinet maker, and in 1890 he worked for the Widdicomb Mantel Company, again as a cabinet maker. At that time he resided at 236 W. Broadway, Grand Rapids, MI. d. 17 May 1906 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Map of Malahide Township, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada - ca 1877

15. Frederick^8 Van Wicklin b. 27 December 1889, Grand Rapids, Michigan m. Ethel May *Zhlbr, (b. 1 August 1885 in Hudson, MI and d. 16 October 1965 in Farmington, MI – murdered by neighbor) on 19 September 1914 d. 28 September 1937 in Detroit, MI (he suffered a stroke a year before he died.)

16. Dexter^9 LaVern Van Wicklen b. February 20, 1920, Detroit, MI Served in U.S. Navy Reserves as a CB (construction battalion) machinist mate. Fought at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Left Navy after WWII and became a tool and die Engineer in Gary IN and Detroit MI until 1973 when he bought and operated two bars/restaurants. Lived in Gary IN, Livonia MI, Farmington Hills MI, Novi MI, Waterford MI. m. Charlotte Ann *Zhlngi (b. 1925 in Detroit, MI) abt 1950 (*maiden name encrypted) Still alive in 2005.

17. Frederick^10 Dale Van Wicklin b. 3 June 1955, in Detroit, MI m. 1. Kimberly Jo Hanes (b. 1957 in Hartford CT) 4 Feb 1984 Divorced Kimberly Hanes 25 August 1989 in Blytheville AR 2. Virginia/Ginny Healy Cunningham (b. 1967 in Brighton, MA) 21 May 1994 in Basking Ridge, NJ Fred joined the U.S. Air Force 25 August 1973 and moved Sacramento CA after military training as a surveyor/draftsman/soil analyst. Attended the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School and the Academy in Colorado Springs CO from July 1974 until June 1979. After graduation with a BS in Biology, Fred was commissioned a 2nd Lt and went back to Sacramento for Navigator training. Upon graduation from Navigator and Bombardier Schools he was stationed there as a B-52 Navigator and Radar Navigator (bombardier). Fred was reassigned to Blytheville AR in July 1986 until December 1989 and served there as a Weapons Officer, Target Study Officer, and aircrew evaluator. Reassigned to the B-52 test squadron in Shreveport/Bossier City LA from December 1989 until April 1993 he tested cruise missiles, nuclear weapons, bombing software, etc. In April 1993 he was reassigned to the Pentagon, Washington D.C. where he worked current and future air-to-surface weapon requirements (Air-Launched Cruise Missiles, Have Nap, JDAM, WCMC, JSOW, JASSAM, etc.) until July 1997 when he went back to Shreveport/Bossier City LA as the Operations Officer then Commander of the test squadron. In July 2000 Fred was transferred to the Air Warfare Center in Las Vegas NV where he was the Chief of Testing until he retired from the Air Force on 1 Nov 2002. Fred then moved to Williamsburg VA where he works for the Air Force as a Senior Military Analyst. Alive in 2005
