Focused Writing Instruction • Focused writing instruction using technology presentation tools. • Presentation tools provided opportunities to reflect and write. • These tools helped students “show” their story instead of “telling” it. • Focused writing conferences using Six Traits Rubic. • Students celebrated writing pieces!

  3. Results Intervention group: 92 students who failed district-created writing benchmarks at one Title I campus. 7th grade writing TAKS results 2010: Score point 4: 1 Score point 3: 34 Score point 2: 54 Score point 1: 3

  4. Results Title I campus with focused writing instruction using presentation tools to motivate students. 90% in 2009 to 97% in 2010! Campus-wide results: AA 2009: 88% AA 2010: 98% H 2009: 90% H 2010: 96% W 2009: 90% W 2010: 96% Eco Disad 2009: 88% Eco Disad 2010: 96%
