The Hanseatic League • Duration of the operation: 5 centuries (1200 - 1700) • Theme: economic and political cooperation • Lead Partner: Lübeck (free imperial city) • Partners: approx. 200 towns (such as Rostock, Hamburg, • Riga...) and 4 main counters (foreign trading post) in London, Bruges, Bergen and Novgorod. • Priorities: - to secure shipping activities against pirates/brigands • - to protect common commercial interests • Type of partnership: each member contributes financially and through military forces; no legal framework, no committee
IVC/IIIC: similarities and differences • similarities • same budget (about 320 MEUR) • same core objective “to improve the efficiency of regional and local policies and instruments” • same ways to achieve this objective“exchange of experience and transfer of good practice” • same methodology • all EU Regions eligible
IVC/IIIC: similarities and differences • differences • new thematic focus: “Innovation and Environment” • a new rate: 75% - 85% • a new structure (1 programme, 1 MC, 1 MA, 1 JTS) • new types of interventions, emphasising not only exchange of experience, but also transfer of good practice and capitalisation
