114 – 115: in E minor; violas, cellos and bassoons have theme; upper strings play a counter melody (tune against a tune) • Melody is staccato against the legato theme • Woodwind (except bassoons) give chord support up to bar 132 • Horns ad sustained notes • Bar 118: modulated to A minor • Bar 120: D minor • Bar 122: G minor • Bar 124: C major • Bar 126: F major • Bar 128: Bb major • Each time the key rises by a fourth
