Excavations – General Rules • For excavation work on university land you must have a Permit to Dig • All work must be covered by a risk assessment • All ground works must be considered to be near live utilities unless you have specific information that it is otherwise • All accidents and incidents must be reported to your line manager and the UoR project or maintenance manager
Permit To Dig • The permit must be requested in advance (at least 5 working days) to give us time to provide the information. • Permits are still required if you are carrying out a full survey as part of the works.

UoR Standards • UoR issues every contracting company with a UoR Rules and Guidance document • We also issue individual contractors a guide for working on UoR. Therefore, there can be no excuse for not following the rules.
