  1. Webquest: Rabies Introduction Task Process Product Expected Evaluation A Problem-Solving Activity

  2. Introduction Introduction Task Process Product Expected Evaluation Scenario: You live in a small farm community where people raise mostly cows and horses. There is a bridge in your town under which thousands of bats nest. In the last week, several dead skunks have appeared around people’s houses. A local resident took one such skunk to a local veterinarian, who had it sent to the state diagnostic lab to see if it tested positive for rabies. IT WAS POSITIVE. Now, you and your neighbors are worried that an epidemic might be about to break out and affect the local livestock and your pets (and maybe YOU!) in YOUR HOME ECOSYSTEM!!! What should people in your community do?

  3. Task Introduction Task Process Product Expected Evaluation • Work in a group created by your teacher • Take notes on each Web site, book, magazine, or other resource. Focus on the information that you must use in your project. • Answer the following questions: • Why does your community need to develop an action plan right away? • What species of animals interact in this ecosystem and need to be considered? Why? • What preventive measures can private citizens in your area take? • What preventive measures can your local government take? Which of these should be given the highest priority? Why? • 4. For each answer, identify your information source.
