TETRA @ CERN FREQUENCIES :TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) for European market (except Public safety services) works in the bandwidth : 410-430MHz VOICE CAPACITY:17 simultaneous group calls (TDMA Multiplexing) / 500 devices • Scalable to many DATA CAPACITY: • Short Data Service : SDS • Packet Data Service : maximum data rate 19.2kb/s High resiliency: • Backup of eachactive equipmentand interconnections • Redundant TETRA coreequipmentlocatedon different sites Interconnection with PABX : ISDN (2 redundant gateways) Consuming of frequencies, reserved to heads of the Fire Brigade Relay of Swiss and French TETRAPOL frequencies : • Strong cooperation with Geneva Police, Customs, Swiss and French Public Safety services Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 3

Indoor radio coverage • LHC experiments, LHC, SPS, PS, Booster, Linac tunnels… are covered with TETRA services but few minor issues are still to fix: • in LHC6 and LHC8, in the middle of the arc section, short area where the signal strength is quite low and communications may be lost. • SPS6 section of tunnel (from the middle of section SPS5-SPS6 to the middle of section SPS6-SPS7) is not yet covered by TETRA. These issues will be fixed during LS1 • Some areas are not covered for now: • The North area : tunnels TT81, TT82, TT83, TT84, TT85, TDC85 • The transversal galleries in PS complex Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 14
Support / Maintenance Infrastructure: • monitored 24/7 via the Computer Center over Spectrum • no need for specific software tools • 1st level of maintenance doneby the First-Line team • 2nd levelof maintenance performed by CERN • 3rd level of maintenance performedby ourcontractor3T Terminals: • Spare parts, repairingand configuration managed by IT-CS for allterminalsthroughourcontracts • 1st batch provided by CERN • For furtherneeds, canbeboughtatCERN’s stores • Online training and practical one (Firebrigade) on radio delivery Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 15
2013 Planning January:TETRA system operational for CSA & firemen! First semester: • Deployment of Indoor Geolocalisation solution in one Arc section of the LHC and one Experiment • Installation of mobiles in firemen’svehicles • Distribution of terminals (Experiments, piquets…) and trainings • ESD distribution in all sites and new batteries for 4h of autonomy • Microwave Backup linkbetween the 2 main BS coordination between ARCEP and OFCOM for the allocation of the frequency And…: • Deployment of the Indoor Geolocalisation solution in LHC, SPS, PS, Booster, Linac.. tunnels, Experiments and critical areas (Computer Center…) • Development of a new fullyintegrated software platform ILDA (Indoor Localisation and DispatchAdd-On) Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 16
ILDA The Integrated Localisation and DispatchAdd-On (ILDA) is a client-server system, withdedicatedaccounts and specificpriviledges, whichwillintegrate: • The display of the localisation of TETRA radios (via GPS or Indoor Localisation System) on a fixedgeographical area or for a fixedlist of talk groups • The Dispatching featureswhichwillenable to establish calls and send SDS messages to defined radios through a Phonebook • An incident mode reserved to Firebrigadewithwiderfeaturessuch as direct interaction with the TETRA radios displayed on the maps (calls, SDS sending, selection of multiple radios to createdynamic group of communication…), a tracking mode, search of a specificmap (interconnectionwith GIS portal), transmit inhibition of a radio…, for which all actions willbelogged • An interconnectionwith CSAM centralizelevel 3 alarms: TETRA emergency alarms Aurélie PASCAL IT-CS / TETRA Forum 07-02-2013 17
