WHO WE ARE Common Ground Iowa (CGI) is a regional partner of the Common Ground Alliance (CGA). The CGI's purpose is to promote public safety through damage prevention and shared responsibility, while utilizing the CGA’s “Best Practices” for advancing underground utility safety across Iowa. The CGI is a not-for-profit organization, 501(c)(3) status and organized in 2008.

BEST PRACTICES Common Ground Iowa (CGI) strongly supports and recommends the national CGA “Best Practices”. This collection of “Best Practices” is intended to be shared among stakeholders involved with, and dependent upon the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, construction, and protection of all underground facilities.
BEST PRACTICES The CGA “Best Practices” contain validated experiences gained that can be further examined and evaluated for possible consideration and incorporation into state and private stakeholder underground facility damage prevention programs.
