Ny-Ålesund, Peninsula down to Brøggerhalvøya, Bergen Project; Gallet J.C. Conditions: Mixed day, some cirrus up in the sky. Stratigraphy on ground on 2 Mai 2013 GPS : N = 78˚57’09.7 E = 11˚45’06.8 Altitude = 3 meters a.s.l. Observations 2 sets of measurements with FS, collected at 12:53 and 12:58 local time. Surface layer : is constituted of rounded particles of 0.1 to 0.2 mm size and density of 171 kg.m-3. Wet snow Second layer: is made of depth hoar crystals, 1mm size and density of 267 kg.m-3. Third layer: is indurated depth hoar and melt refreeze crust on bottom. The density is higher than 500 kg.m-3 The total thickness is only 16 cm and the soil below is quite dark.. 16 10 6 0 Ground, melt refreeze layer Tair@ + 150 cm : - -2.0°C T snow from top in degree C, see depth on stratigraphy for layers: 5 cm = -3.0°C 10 cm = -5.0°C 16 cm = -5.1°C/ground interface
