Joint Master Degrees in a nutshell Joint Master Degrees are 60, 90 or 120 ECTS course programmesorganised by consortium of highereducationinstitutions. Focus is on • award scholarshipsto excellent students worldwide • involveguestlecturersfor teaching, training and/or research purposes 1 preperatoryyearand 3 consecutive student intakes, min. 3 Programmecountries, study in at least 2 ProgrammeCountries Fundingfor management and student scholarships: between 2 000 000 and 3 000 000 EUR forwholegrant Yearly deadline = 27 March 200X Start between 1 August and 31 October 200X
First call • Deadline current call = March 27 2014, 12h00 (Brussels time) • Start grantedprojects = between 1 August and31 October 2014 • 9 grants will be funded • Calls launched and managed by EACEA • Average budget/grant = 1,9 million euros
Programme & partner countries Erasmus+ • Programme countries • EU-28 (including Overseas Country and Territory depending on Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom ) • Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland • Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia • Rest of the world = partner countries (limitations per action and calls may apply)
What is funded? (2/3)Joint Master Degree student scholarships
Quality assurance during initial funding period • Selection process with limited number of grants • Submission of annual progress reports by consortium (necessary for next grant instalments) • Online Mobility tool: qualitative and quantitative monitoring • Minimally 1 monitoring visit • Quality review at the end of initial funding period
KU Leuven advice and support • Before submission via International Office • As soon as possible, inform International Office about intentions • Advice available on request for call specifications, possible (non) academic partners, consortium management structure, … • Compulsory consultation joint master degree initiatives via ‘Ondersteuningsgroep Interuniversitaire Opleidingen’(OGIO) • Submission through International Office (rector as legal representative) • After selection via International Office • Communication to EACEA for budget revise, clarifications, … • Grant agreement • Advice on consortium agreement and other documents commiting KU Leuven via‘Ondersteuningsgroep Interuniversitaire Opleidingen’
Deadlines call spring 2014 • 28/02/2014: Application form has tobedeliveredtojohan.evers@kuleuven.beforcompulsory OGIO feedback • Applications are assessed by Executive Board of KU Leuven (Gemeenschappelijk Bureau) on 18/03/2014 • Uponapproval, finalapplicationforms are signed by the rector (through International Office) • Onlyapprovedandrector signedapplicationscanbesubmittedto the externalfundingbody!
