  6. A ”typical” case • Police contacts the Women Support on behalf of Sara, 35 years old. Her husband Michael is in custody because of severe domestic violence towards her. The police has made a risk assessment which tells that the risk that the violence will continue is regarded as high. So is also the risk of lethal violence. In the family there also are three daughters in age of 5 – 13 years old. The police also sends a police report to the Social Service Office and a report about concern for the children are made. • The women support calls Sara to a meeting the same day. She tells about severe violence and that she is very afraid of Michael. The Women support meets Sara together with a social worker from the receiving unit for children. Together with Sara they do a risk assessment. Sara is very afraid of what will happen when Michael gets out of custody. She also tells that Michael has been violent against the children. Ämne

  7. First, the social worker and the women’s support do a risk assessment for the woman and the child. Ämne

  8. Together with Sara, they also do a security planning. What will she do when Michael gets out? How can she protect her children? They agree that Sara will contact the Social Service Office when she gets more information. The women's support also call the police and ask them to give information about when Michael gets released to the Social Service office. • A few days later, Sara calls. Michael will be released during the day, and she is very afraid. She comes to the Social Service Office with her children, and they are helped to a women’s shelter. • Because of the seriousness of the violence, an child investigation is initiated by the Social Secretary at the receiving unit. The children are offered therapy due to their experiences. • Sara is also offered continued support from the Women’s support and is offered a therapeutic contact Ämne

  9. Though Michael also is legal guardian, the Social worker has to contact him and inform about the police report and the consequences from it. They inform that the children are safe, but do not give any information about their location. Michael is asked to give his view of what happened. • Michael is concerned about his behaviour and lack of anger management. Michael gets information about the Men's Support, and want the Social worker to book a common meeting with the Men's Support. A common meeting takes place with Michael, the Social worker and the Men's Support. Ämne
