  2. Proposal for 2019 Mammography Education Symposium • Improve and standardize mammography positioning in Newfoundland and Labrador • Educate technologist leaders to continue to train and support mammography technologists throughout the province • Train The Trainer program (T3)

Proposal for 2019 Mammography Education Symposium • Mammography Educators, University of California San Diego • Founded by Louise Miller and Amy Chatten in 2013 • Extensive clinical and administrative experience in all aspects of breast imaging focusing on establishing high-quality, consistent methods of breast imaging • Provide mammography positioning training, Train-the-Trainer programs, mammography conferences • Mission is to develop high-quality, consistent methods for breast imaging • Mammography Educators seeks to standardize mammography positioning in Newfoundland, and in turn, improve image quality and breast cancer detection rates across the province.

Proposal for 2019 Mammography Education Symposium • PART 1 (Kickoff Conference – All Mammography Technologists in Newfoundland) • Basic training, emphasizing consistency & reproducibility of images • The Breast MAP lecture • Body ergonomics • Introduce Train-the-Trainer (T3) • Pre- and post-test to measure effectiveness of educational goals and objectives

Proposal for 2019 Mammography Education Symposium PART 2 (Initial T3 Training Program, 3 days, 3 Trainees) Day 1 • Classroom lecture & Positioning Demonstration/Practice • Introduction to T3 program • Positioning lecture emphasizing consistency & reproducibility of images • Positioning demonstration & hands-on workshop • Body ergonomics • Learning theories • Mentoring • Professionalism • How to provide feedback • Role modeling activities

  7. Proposal for 2019 Mammography Education Symposium PART 3 (On-site Follow-up Visit 6-8 weeks after Part 2) • Check-in with each technologist in the clinic • Observe teaching in the clinic • Spend ~½ day with each trainer (Initial Training Program – 3 Trainees)
