Participants • Many requests for training received during last year • Input from IANA, NSRC and others • Carefully chosen group of operators with varying levels of experience from Benin (.bi) Nepal (.th) Burundi (.bj) Thailand (.th) Ghana (.gh) Uruguay (.uy) Sri Lanka (.lk) ICANN Meeting, Kuala Lumpur, July 2004

Goals • Technical Training to create and maintain secure, stable, reliable services • Assist operators to make informed choices about policies and procedure in response to community needs • Interaction with IANA • Hands-on clinic to address individual issues and circumstances • Build working relationship among participants and instructors ICANN Meeting, Kuala Lumpur, July 2004

Workshop Outline • Optional UNIX training • Introduction to DNS & BIND • how to build a zone file • RCS, scripts and other SW tools, trouble shooting • Security & Scalability • DNSSec, PGP • registry/registrar models, registry tools (LDAP, OpenReg, .br) • Policies and Procedures • presentation of each registry • BCPs, IANA interactions, dealing with registry growth • Hands-on registry clinic, automation techniques ICANN Meeting, Kuala Lumpur, July 2004
