Promoting the Patient Charter for TB Care GROUP 4 Facilitators: Ms Gini Williams, International Council of Nurses and Dr Daniel Kibuga, WHO/AFRO
Summary of Discussion PCTC • Lack of awareness at different levels – Govt., NTP, PA,s and the community • Inconsistant application • No guideline for implementation • Lack of ressources for quality controlled translation (for those who are not literate) • Need for high level political committment to ensure resources for implementation
Conclusion • The PCTC reflects good clinical practice and is the ideal, though this not been the case in most countries with it not being endorsed and implemented. • Efforts need to be made towards empowering communities to engage • All NTP and professional associations need to make use of available resources eg. gf, unitaid, glc etc. • Involvement of Patient organizations and PAs
