  2. Ongoing Environmental Impact assessment (EIA) • Ltd. “Laubes bekons” Ogres district. Project for 12 000 pigs/year • Ltd. “NYGAARD INTERNATIONAL” 9 new byres for 82 000 pigs/year 15 new byres for 2800 sows and 15 700 piglets (7-30 kg) THE WORST CASE IN LATVIA AT THE MOMENT!!!!

  3. Ongoing Environmental Impact assessment (EIA) Nr.2 • Ltd. “Baltic Agro Contractor” New byres with 7450 places, planned to process 30 000 pigs every year. • Ltd. “Ozolāji cūkaudzētava” Liepājas district. Plan to build 18 new byres for 25000 pigs. Planning to have three processing rounds per year -> 75 000 pigs

  4. Environmental Impact assessment (EIA) finished • Feedlot stock farm “Avoti” Ltd “Baltic Agro Contractor” Dobeles district, Jaunbērze 30 000 pigs per year – APROVED • Ltd. “Latvi Dan Agro” Dobeles district, Jaunbērze Planned to open the third part of already existing farm for 46 000 pigs per year – NOT APROVED

  5. Environmental Impact assessment (EIA) finished Nr.2 • Ltd. “Brīvkalni” 20 000 pigs per year – APROVED • Ltd. “Kurzemes bekons” 30 000 pigs per year – APROVED

  6. Scurry? We stillcan do something about it! • EIA • Regulation issued by Cabinet of Ministers Nr. 152. “Welfare of pigs” (2004) • Regulation issued by Cabinet of Ministers Nr. 626 Regulation of “odors” • Nitrogen limits • Public participation • Work with local municipalities • CHOOSE ORGANIC!!!!
