LMHEP Background • London Mental Health and Employment Partnership (LMHEP) launched in 2008 • Strategic leadership group established in Sept 2011 • Executive Group has provided high-level leadership, guidance and coordination to support operational action • House of Lord’s Leadership event on 18 July – galvanised leadership and secured many commitments to action
LMHEP Work Programme 12/13 • Executive Group has developed and launched a series of resources • Resources designed to support effective planning and service delivery to benefit local communities • Aim to ensure that a clear focus is placed on the delivery of the NHS core business during the transition • Resources: Case for Action; JSNA Guidance; engagement model for NHS/ Work Programme partnership arrangements
Case for Action (June 2012) • Work, mental health and welfare: the case for coordinated action to achieve shared benefit • Business case for investment and the evidence base for effective interventions that - create healthy workplaces - support work retention - provide routes into work for people traditionally excluded by their condition • Adopts a “high level” systematic approach to the key issues and makes the case to the key target audiences: CCGs; HWBs; large employers; and SMEs
JSNA Guidance (Sept 2012) • Incorporating mental health and employment in your joint strategic needs assessment and health & wellbeing strategy • Highlights the importance of the issues to CCGs, HWBs, Adult Social Services and other partners responsible for public health and delivering personalised responses • Provides an approach to identifying local needs and assets with a view to influencing commissioning decisions and partnership action • Offers a comprehensive range of resources that are already being used locally (i.e. Westminster)
NHS/Work Programme Partnerships • Executive Group held a strategic dialogue with the prime contractors • Focus on how best to support the mental health needs of unemployed people on the work programme • Workstream and East London subgroup led by Dr Haren Patel, Joint Chair, City & Hackney CCG • Engagement model now been endorsed by Executive Group and pilot arrangements are about to be piloted in Newham
