  3. Features • Twist of head • Arched Back • Twisted Torso • Stark contrast to the Knidian Aphrodite’s calmness. • Body position implies pain as the body is twisted unnaturally

  4. Face • Would have had deep set ‘yearning’ eyes • Dramatically parted lips. • Square face

  5. Clothing • Chiton tied with a very neat bow, contrasting with the violent action of her movement. • Chiton doesn’t cover left side, showing her naked leg and side. • Hair runs wild and some rests on shoulder - Adding realism. • Catenary between the breasts.

  6. Woodford says: • ‘Though small and lacking in detail, still conveys the drama which [Skopas] was able to infuse into his work’ • ‘The violent turn of the head, the arched back and the twisted torso contrast marvellously, with the serenity and calm of Praxiteles’ knidian Aphrodite’
