What’s a Raphanus? • Raphanus is the scientific name for radish. • Radishes originated in China, thousands of years ago. • It takes about 45-60 days for a radish to grow to full maturity. • To care for a radish properly, you should keep the soil moist and rid the soil of weeds and debris. You should also place the radish in an area where it will receive 8-10 hours of sunlight each day.

  3. Independent and Dependent Variables • Independent Variable- The non-baked and baked soils. • Dependent Variable- The growth of each of the plants.

  4. Hypothesis/Essential Question • Our Hypothesis was that the radish plants would grow better in the non-baked soil. • Our hypothesis was wrong. The radish plants grew better in the baked soil. • How is data used in Science? • Scientists collect data from experiments and record the information. Other scientists learn from this information and we grow and develop off of it, discovering new things. • Information we collected from other researchers gave us information that helped us grow our radish seeds properly.
