MCAI Mighty Men of distinctionProgram Purpose To use innovative training techniques and blended methods to connect and engage Head Start Fathers/Significant Males to employment, careers, educational possibilities and entrepreneurship opportunities, along with offering a wide range of support services through collaborating and partnering with local, state and national entities.

MCAI Mighty Men of distinction FUNCTION the might men of distinction Program promotes; • Employment • Job Training • Credit Counseling • GED • Career Readiness Certificate • College Preparation • Housing Assistance • Adult Literacy • Computer Literacy • Entrepreneurship (How To Start Your Own Business) and so much more within the programs service counties of Martin, Pitt and Beaufort counties head start centers.

MCAI Mighty Men of distinction Program MISSION is to generate strong relationships between Fathers/Significant Males and their children, equipping them with skills to provide for their families by garnering employment and life-long learning, and simultaneously empowering them to become leaders and champions for their children, families and community.

  5. WHY SHOULD YOU BE INVOLVED WITH MCAI Mighty Men of distinction Program? Benefits of father figure being in the home Damage of father figure missing in the home Research shows children without guidance of Fathers/Father Figures in their lives are; 85% of children with behavioral problems are from homes where the father isn’t involved 71% of all high school dropouts are from fatherless homes 85% of youth in prison are from homes where the father wasn’t Now more than ever, children need the presence and guidance of Fathers/Father Figures in their lives. Research shows children with involved Fathers are; • more confident. • more equipped with handling frustrating. • more independent. • have higher self-esteem. • less likely to commit suicide.

MCAI Mighty Men of distinction vision Is that Each Head Start Father/Significant male will be actively engaged in the nurturing and structuring of their children’s education, laying a foundation for them to become academically prepared to participate in a knowledge-based global society, as well to become aspiring leaders.

  7. MCAI Mighty Men of distinction Key Personnel Mr. Stephen Bond recently hired as Martin Community Action, Inc. Male Involvement Specialist. Mr. Bond was born and reared in Queens, N.Y., graduate of Freeport High School. He received his B.A, degree from Old Westbury College and M.A. from Brooklyn College. Mr. Bond spent the last 13 years as an educator in Orlando, FL. In 2007 and 2009, he was awarded the “Minority Educator of the Year” from Kissimmee Charter Academy.
