Screen Search • importance of contextual information • linked to further sources of information • difference between a catalogue and a resource • intended as a research resource • future - working with academics to develop tailored ‘packages’ for teaching and learning • future - opportunities for direct input from users
Academic Use and Archives • creating resources is not enough - need to meet needs and enable users • importance of encouraging and stimulating new research • unmediated and mediated resources • the value of curated packages
Future challenges & directions • Working collaboratively with other collections, bringing content together? • Richer and deeper resources • Web 2 - UGC - encouraging user input • Focusing on the needs of users not the benefits to the archive • Increasing size and quality of online video • Overcoming issue of project based funding - towards sustainability
