  1. World Affairs Council Savoring Our Bite at the Apple

  2. WAC Overview • A two-level organization: a national headquarters in DC with 87 regional councils and 26 affiliates • Approximate size: 484,000 members and participants • Audience: 20 million people annually via TV, Radio, Schools, Events, Etc. • Members: Geopolitics junkies with money to burn • Median age (in Dallas): 50-years • Professional: Regional chapters have offices and full-time staff • Boards: Board members are CEOs, Ambassadors, etc., major heavy-hitters

  3. The Opportunity • 484,000 members* • 10% conversion = 48,000 new Stratfor members • $200 membership = $9,600,000 • Less 10% revenue split of $96,000 • First Level: $9.5 million* • Second Level: Corporate subscriptions • Third Level: Friend/Gift/Forward-ee subscriptions • Bottom Line: Stratfor’s single best opportunity ever • *Probably high by a factor of 2-3x

  4. Our Challenge • Our site must be professionalized • Identify/fix the things that are simply broken, examples include • Internet Explorer version 7.0 doesn’t work • More stable server (down 3 times last week of March) • Team/Press/Reports/Partners/Etc. must be current • Make changes for the (50 year-old) audience • Tools to increase font size on-screen • Enhance/fix printing capabilities • Cement multiple relationships given WAC’s structure • Insure newsletter distribution by all regional chapters • Insure display on regional websites • Participate in regional speaking events, media production, etc. • Improve site offerings • Better navigation, i.e. by region/country rather than article type • More content in front of the password

  5. Next Steps • Attached to-do list: first cut needs completion, especially due dates • Identify must-do’s and nice to-do’s within our desired timeframe • Coordinate schedules with national and regional chapters, can’t lose our window • Execute to meet our deadline
