Counselor and Teacher letters of recommendation • Ask for letter at least 3 weeks in advance • Provide teacher with résumé or student profile • Provide teacher with any supplemental forms • Provide teacher with application deadline • Thank-you letters to teachers are appreciated
Transcript request • Transcript requests and forms must be submitted to Guidance Counselor three (3) weeksprior to application deadline • Transcript request form available in Guidance offices or online • Must have 1 per school • $3 processing fee per transcript • Present any additional forms from college at time of request • Must see your counselor in person !!!!! Do not leave forms !!!!! • Must be signed by a parent if a student is not 18

Counselor responsibilities After Receiving a Request Form the Counselor will: • Send transcript • Counselor recommendation if requested • School report form if provided • School profile • Mid year report (automatic after semester 1 ends) • Final transcript:(student will get form at end of year to verify)
Standardized Testing • SAT Reasoning Test (collegeboard.com)- is a multiple-choice test designed to measure your verbal, mathematical and writing abilities. • SAT Subject Tests-recommended or required by some colleges. • ACT (actstudent.org)– curriculum-based testing • PSAT/NMSQT (www.collegeboard.com)- is a multiple choice practice test. Your test results can qualify you for National Merit Scholarships. North code: 300430 • Most colleges now require official score reports. • Colleges require that test scores be directly sent from testing company
SAT Reasoning TEst There are 3 sections: • Mathematics • Critical Reading • Writing Scores will range from 200–800 on each section Score Choice • By Test Date NOT individual test • All scores from all test dates will be sent unless you “opt in” to score choice
ACT • score range = 1-36 • 4 SECTIONS: • English • Math • Reading • Science • easy and difficult questions are mixed
PSAT/NMSQT • PSAT/NMSQT administration date: October 17th 2012 • 3 Sections • Critical Reading, Math, Writing Skills • Score Range: 20-80 • www.mycollegequickstart.com

College Rep Visits to North • We are happy to inform you that we have a series of college visits scheduled every Fall. *List for Fall 2012 will be available on the daily announcements • Students have the opportunity to meet with the admissions representatives to gather further information. • Students can view the list and sign up in the B201 GUIDANCE OFFICE
College FAIRS • Spring College Fair • Thursday April 5th- during the school day • Fall College Fair • Early November- evening
