Learn about online safety, ethics, and how to behave responsibly while blogging. Understand the concept of online presence, ethical behavior, and guidelines for safe and respectful online communication.
E N D
Be aware Be aware of your online presence. What is an “online presence”? ? It is who you are and how you act online.
Where are some places people have an online presence? • email • websites • sites like MySpace • blogs and blog comments
What does it mean to be ethical? To be ethical means to be concerned with what is right and wrong, and to behave in a way that is right, AND to follow the rules not just because someone tells you to, but because you know it is the right thing to do. For example? What if you find a really cool jacket on the playground, and no one else was around. What would be the ethical thing to do?

Be respectful • THINK before you write • State your opinion • Offer constructive criticism • Don’t say mean or personal things • Use proper spelling and punctuation Once you write it, you can’t take it back.
