  1. In Class Essay Fahrenheit 451

  2. Last Minute “Helpful Hints” • Look over the rubric before you begin writing. • Remember to have a CLEAR and STRONG thesis statement which FULLY answers your chosen prompt! • Each body paragraph should contain support/ examples from BOTHFahrenheit (in the form of quotes), as well as our own society (the real world, your life, our government, etc.) • Be sure to connect/contrast the example you provide from Fahrenheit with that you provide from our world. Are they similar? Different?

  3. Essential Questions • What is the value of reading literature?  You may approach this question from various angles, some including: • What role and impact does reading literature have on a society? A civilization?  • What is the relationship between reading and having a democratic government?  As a future stakeholder of this country, how important is reading to the health of a democracy like ours? • To what extent is technologyfostering intelligence or ignorance? • What have we become more (or less) intelligent and ignorant about? • If a society is literally falling apart morally, politically, and/or economically, is there hope that society can recover?  If so, who, what or how can hope be restored? If not, why not?
