  1. Listen to the Sound Angelique PatinEDU 214 Dr. Graziano Sept.12, 2011 Grade2

  2. Today boys and girls, we will be learning how to correctly pronounce the /sh/ sound as in the quiet sound. Doesn’t this sound fun? We will be going to several websites and doing a couple of activities to help you have fun while learning to articulate the /sh/ sound correctly.

  3. Task We will be visiting 5 different websites that will have activities for you to complete. • Play a concentration game with words that begin with the initial /sh/ sound. • Listen to the articulation of the /sh/ sound in words. • Record yourself saying /sh/ words for one minute. • Look up the definition of the /sh/ words: she, shot, shaver, shell, shark, shirt, shower and sheep. • Make a sentence out of these words: she, shot, shaver, shell, shark, shirt, shower and sheep. • At the end of the activities you will need to turn in the assignment with all of the /sh/words used in a sentence.

  4. Process • First go to http://www.quia.com/pages/havemorefun.html and play the concentration game. Go to quia activities and quizzes then scroll down to initial /sh/ picture match up. • Then go to http://Dictionary.com and listen to the pronunciation of the words she, shell, sheep, shark, shower, shot, shirt and shaver. • Next go to http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/Stopwatch/ and record yourself saying the words she, shell, sheep, shark, shower, shot, shirt and shaver for one minute. • Then on to http://www.yourdictionary.com and look up the definition for she, shell, shark, shower, shot, shirt, shaver and write it down on paper. • Lastly, http://www.starfall.com/n/skills/sh/load.htm?f and listen to the words that have /sh/ sound in them.

  5. Process Continued This lesson could be differentiated by having English Language learners go to • http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/she to translate the words from English to Spanish. • http://translation.babylon.com/english/to-spanish/ The student could also find the definitions on this website. Students with learning disabilities can increase the text size and type their assignment on the computer, print it and turn it in.

  6. The grading criteria will consist of… • 90-100 points= A • 89-80 points= B • 79-70 points= C • 69-60 points= D • 59- or below points= F Each activity will be awarded a point value from 1-20 points. Evaluation
