Objectives • Upon completion of this CBL the learner will have a basic understanding of how to: • View the Medication by History and Prescription lists • Remove duplicates • NOTE: • Please remember this module demonstrates Cerner Medication List functionality only. • Consult you Clinical management team with any questions you may have about clinical workflow.
Open the patient record... • Open the Menu... • Open the Medication List band...
Lets begin by clicking the Patient Preferred Pharmacy Icon button to open the information window. • Now Type the Pharmacy Name... • Click Search to find a pharmacy... • Double click on the correct Pharmacy to add to the patient record • Note: • The Patient Preferred tab will be in Bold Text if the pharmacy has already been entered.
Next the “Display filter” should be set to “All Medication (All Statuses)”. • So Click the down arrow to get the full list and select All Medications (All Statuses).
Medications will be listed alphabetically. • Medications are sorted with “Active” Meds listed at the top. • Please make sure the light blue line has “Active” in it.
In the Status box, the Meds History status will be displayed as a GREEN check (reviewed) or a BLUE ball (ready for review). • Hovering will show last date/time the list was reviewed. • Before working with the Medication List , you must reset the Meds History view...
To reset the view: • Right click on Meds History... • Then click “Reset”. The list has been reset.
Please remember that hovering over ICONs allows you to view what they represent
To review medication lists for duplicates, you will need to look at the Stop, Order Name and Details columns. NOTE: Please consult your Clinical Leadership if you have clinical questions about removing duplicates
Once you have identified the duplicate medication ( Med by Hx or prescription) that you’d like to remove, right click on the medication and select “Complete” from the menu. Note: “Complete” will be used for both Meds by Hx and Prescriptions
Now you will see that the duplicate medication is now struck through... • Click the “Orders for Signature” button in lower right corner of the window...
Review the changes: • If it is NOT correct click the “Refresh” button and start over... • If it is correct then click the “Sign” button and complete the process.
