Why is obedience important? • Living in obedience to God helps us grow closer to Christ • It’s is important that we live in obedience to know God’s will • When we really understand God’s love and what he did for us, we should want to obey Him • He has told us to be obedient because He loves us and knowswhat’s best for us • Obedience demonstrates are faithfulness to God • We obey His commands, because we wantto not because we haveto
What does the Bible say about obedience? • Obedience is a sign of your love for God • The only way you can know if you are obeying God is by knowing his Word • The 10 commandments says “Honor thy Mother and thy Father” • The Bible says we need to obey God • To be obedient to God is to agree with Him • If we obey God we are accepting the authority and will of God
Bible verses about obedience • Ephesians 6:1says “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” • 1 Peter 1:14 says “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance” • John 14:15 says “If ye love me, keep my commandments” • Genesis 22:18 says “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice”
There are consequences • There are consequences if we don’t obey • If we don’t obey God’s commands we are sinning • There were many people who disobeyed God and suffered the consequences • Adam and Eve didn’t obey and they had to leave the garden • Lot and his family disobeyed God

People who obeyed • There are rewards for obeying • Some people who obeyed God were... • Noah, Moses, David, Paul and Mary • Isaiah, Elijah, Peter, Abraham, and Joseph • They all got rewarded for obeying • They loved the Lord and did as they were told
Noah • Noah and his family obeyed God • Noah built the ark even though everyone made fun of him he kept doing what God said • His family got rewarded for obeying they lived • Everyone else died because they didn’t obey God • They also got to see a rainbow as God’s promise never to flood the earth again
Abraham • Abraham was blessed with a son he loved every much • God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac • Abraham did as he was told because he loved the Lord • He wasn’t happy that he had to kill Isaac • He was going to do it though • For Abraham's obedience, God keeps His promise to make Abraham's descendants a great nation
