Some are one syllable • Location : at, by, in, on, near • Direction : to, from, down, off, through, out • Association: of, for, with, like • Some are two-syllable • About, against, above, before, except, under • Some are compound • According to, prior to, instead of, in front of
Preposition phrase • A prepositional phrase starts with the preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. • Examples – around the town, by the park, outside the pool • The word that ends a prep. Phrase is called the object of the preposition
Object of preposition • The box fell behind the refrigerator. preposition
