  1. ADD SALT

  2. Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

  3. WHY IS SALT IMPORTANT?

  4. The recent generations don’t understant its importance.

  5. SALT is an ingredient that gives savor, spiciness or taste.

  6. USED ESPECIALLY TO SEASON AND PRESERVE FOOD

  7. IN ANCIENT TIMES

  8. 1. FUNDAMENTAL FOR PRESERVING FOOD

  9. 2. GOVERNMENTS WANTED TO BE SALT-SELF SUFFICIENT

  10. 3. ESSENTIAL FOR NATIONS TO WIN THEIR WARS

  11. SALT was absolutely fundamental in the old times as oil is for us now.

  12. YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH

  13. YOU ARE THE OIL OF THE EARTH

  14. YOU ARE THE WATER OF THE PLANET

  15. WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT SALT?Mat. 5:13 We are the salt of the earth. Salt is good while maintains its saltiness (its capacity to be salty again). It is no longer good for anything if it loses its saltiness, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

  16. Mark 9:48-50 “Everyone will be salted with fire.Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” Salt is good while it keeps its saltiness. Have salt among your selves. Everyone will be salted with fire.

  17. When the salt loses its saltiness?

  18. When it is not salty anymore and does not preserve anything.

  19. SALT has to keep its saltiness and properties

  20. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO US TODAY?

  21. SEASON ALL OFFERINGS Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings. (Leviticus 2:13)

  22. It enforced the convenat God had with His people. • A grain without salt would not be accepted by God. • The commandment was: add salt to all your offerings.

  23. A CITY SAVED BY A BOWL OF SALT

  24. 2 Kings 2:19-22 19 The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.” 20 “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21 Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the LORD says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’” 22 And the water has remained pure to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

  25. A CITY SAVED BY A BOWL OF SALT • The city had 2 serious survival and environmental problems: • The water was bad • The land was unproductive • People were dying because of the bad water

  26. The real problem • The water was so bad that caused the land to be unproductive and people to die from drinking it.

  27. The solution • Salt was dropped in the water and the water was purified.

  28. We can be the same • We can do the same thing to a city that is drinking from poisoned water. • We can be the salt that purifies that water.

  29. How? BE SALTED WITH FIRE

  30. Mark 9:48 “Everyone will be salted with fire”

  31. How? ADD SALT

  34. To think about: AM I INFLUENCING SOCIETY OR IS SOCIETY INFLUENCING ME?
