For starters, he never misses a day of school, unless my mother makes him stay home because he is contagious. He sits in the front of all of his classes and away from his friends so he has total concentration on what the teacher. He also stays after school to participate in the tutoring program. When he comes home from school, he doesn’t play first, he finishes his homework and then reads a book. He doesn’t get distracted by the television or telephone like I do. As a result of all of these things, he is able to keep his grades up and earn a 4.0. Cause and Effect

During the Civil War, a woman named Clara Barton heard stories of wounded and suffering soldiers and felt she needed to help. She urged people to donate bandages and medicine. She also headed a group that searched for missing soldiers. After four years of this work, Clara moved to Switzerland. It was there that she first learned about a group called the Red Cross. In 1873 Clara returned to the United States. In 1881 she started an American branch of the Red Cross.
