WHAT WE WANT FOR WINGATE BY LIAM IAN STACEY KATE
HOW WE GOT INVOLVED • We met Sarah through our school • The Children Fund had money to spend on making Wingate a better place • Sarah asked us how the Children’s Fund could make Wingate better; we told her; we want a ……………………………………………….
WHAT WE DECIDED • We wanted to find out what other children thought should be in Wingate • We decided to do some research
WHAT WE DID • A small group of us met up and worked on different things • Looked at what research is • Looked a different ways of getting people to tell us what they want • Planned the research days
WHAT WE DID • We designed the research material • We did the research • We have been involved in writing up the research and showing others what we have found
TYPES OF RESEARCH • GAMES • ART • SURVEY • QUESTIONNAIRES • INTERVIEWS • WISH LIST
RESEARCH MATERIAL WE USED WISH LIST Children drew what they wanted to see in Wingate
WHO USED IT • Younger children did wish lists which they could paint, draw and colour
MATERIAL WE USED SURVEY We decided what questions to use and who was going to complete it
WHO USED IT Questionnaires were used with years 5&6 in Junior School and in the local clubs
MATERIAL WE USED • PICTURES We took pictures of different things around Wingate
WHO USED IT • WE USED THE PICTURES IN SCHOOLS AND SPOKE ABOUT WHAT WE SAW • WE ALSO RECORDED THEIR IDEAS ON A DICTA PHONE
MATERIAL WE USED • VIDEO We used a video to help make discussion in schools around what they like and dislike in Wingate
WHO SAW THE VIDEO • Stacy, Judy and others made a video of the local parks and we showed this in the infant and junior schools
CONCLUSION • We have found out that the 5 most important things to 5-13 year olds are: • Better parks and better equipment • Shops • Skate park for Blades, BMX, Skateboards • Football pitch and clubs • Swimming pool
WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT DOING THE RESEARCH • WE GOT SOME DAYS OFF OF SCHOOL • WORKED WITH KIDS • SOMETHING DIFFERENT
WHAT WE DID NOT LIKE • The older children were harder to talk to • Teachers didn’t work with me 3. It was very hectic
THE END THANK YOU FOR LISTENING
