Definition: a spur-of-the-moment speech. One that you don’t have the opportunity to fully prepare.
Times when you can prepare: Everyday: Learn about dept., company, field, country, and world. Read newspapers, journals, newsletters, etc. Before the meeting: Look at agenda and anticipate what might be needed for the meeting. Look up data, talk to key people, stay up to date.
During the meeting: Listen! Anticipate being called on to respond. Formulate thoughts as you listen. Seconds between when you are called on to speak and you actually begin: Don’t panic, choose informative or persuasive, develop as you speak. Summarize at the end.
