  3. ANHAN Mandate Being a network of Aboriginal people, organizations, and agencies, we respectfully strive to provide support and services to our First Nations, Métis & Inuit families and communities who are experiencing HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.

  4. Vision • A center which responds, holistically, traditionally, and spiritually, to the needs of Aboriginal people living with HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. • As an agency that has credible partnerships and is well respected for the work it does. Engage in partnerships for service delivery, research, and evaluation. • To be a vibrant community where those at risk can find opportunities to create, to belong, to hope, to choose and to have the freedom to believe in the future.

  5. Saskatchewan HIV Rates • Population of Saskatchewan approximately one million • Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) estimates 60,000 people with HIV in Canada and 1450 in Saskatchewan • Rate of new cases in Canada average 9.3/100,000 • Rate of new cases in Saskatchewan in 2008 20.8/100,000

Goal and Objectives That the Network has the capacity to offer services and programs that are geared to the aboriginal people through the development, initiation and training of ANHAN staff, board, volunteers and members. • Provide direct services that address root causes of addictions, disease, and social issues. • Provide services and programs that are based on Aboriginal cultural and traditional values.

  7. Current Services Available ANHAN will provide the following workshops: • Basic HIV and AIDS workshop • Harm Reduction workshop • Hepatitis C workshop • Two Spirit Workshop • Residential School Workshop • Cultural Connections Workshop ANHAN will recommend the following speakers: • Inspirational Positive Speakers • Elders, Healers, & Helpers

  8. ANH will provide the following training: • Sharing the Knowledge • Circle of Knowledge Keepers • Youth Peer Leadership in the community • Sisters in Spirit Training • Two Spirit Training • Personnel Development Training • Cultural Connections Training

Client Centered Services • Aboriginal Life Skill Sessions offered for groups and individuals: spring, summer, fall and winter • Support and outreach for positive people • The PLACE, drop in 9-5 pm, Monday to Friday. Offering food, phone, clothing, newspapers, conversation • AA meetings, Recovery Meetings, • Arts and Crafts, Drumming and Songs, • Sharing Circles, Daily Prayer Circles, Sweat lodges, Cleanings ceremonies • Elders and Helpers

Other Services • Annual Aboriginal HIV, AIDS & HCV Conference • Displays and resources • Bi-monthly Newsletter Positive Journeys, Web site, Face book and twitter • Information on the Aboriginal reality – statistics, fact based information. • Networking and referrals • Annual AIDS Walk, World AIDS Day and Aboriginal AIDS Awareness day and week. • Free Condoms

Current Projects and Programs • Resolution Health Support Program • Outreach and Support Program • Youth Programs – Live Safe, Play Safe, Cultural Connections for Aboriginal Youth • The Place – outreach centre • Research • Various research teams, committees, councils, boards. • Truth and Reconciliation events

THE TEAM • The Network consist of Aboriginal Staff, Board of Directors, Members, and Volunteers • Work Placements and Students • AASO that can administer CIHR funds for research. • Youth, Elders and Community advisors groups • Positive Peoples Network in Saskatchewan • We care about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C in our communities and work towards decreasing the numbers of Aboriginal people living with these viruses.
