Hybrid Electric HMMWV Hybrid Electric (HE) HMMWV Overview By Daniel R. Markiewicz, HE-HMMWV Project Manager
Project Milestones • Funded by DARPA through MARCAV • Period of Performance: 7/95 - 9/02 • Project start: 7/95 • Component integration/testing: 6/97 - 12/97 • System testing: 1/98 - 12/98 • Aberdeen testing: 1/99 - 2/01 • Unmanned conversion: 5/02 - 9/02
Project Objectives Convert a conventional ICE powered HMMWV to a hybrid electric (HE) HMMWV Compare the performance of the HE-HMMWV to the conventional HMMWV
Project Goals Produce a reasonablyaffordable and efficient hybrid electric vehicle using currently available technology Meet or exceed the baseline performance of the conventional HMMWV Demonstrate a propulsion system for stealth operation of a wheeled tactical vehicle Maintain conventional HMMWV gross vehicle weight (GVW) and water fording ability
