  1. That’s The Power of Love

  2. Man’s Greatest Misunderstanding Love is (equals) sex WRONG! Love is a feeling WRONG! Love is not real WRONG!

  3. Man’s Greatest Misunderstanding • Love is the same in all situations, although it produces many other things • Love is the foundation or cause of many things • Love is defined as having 28 different meanings, this does not hold up to Scripture

  4. Philippians 2:1-4 • If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (NIV)

  5. God’s Greatest Gift • God is love (1 John 4:17) • His love endures forever (Psalm 136) • Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? (Psalm 113:5-6) • The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all that He has made (Psalm 145:17)

  6. God’s Greatest Gift • For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God (Eph2:8) • Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. (Rev. 22:17) • For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16) • But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us. (Rom. 5:8)

  7. God’s Greatest Gift • Love has great power, it had the power to inspire a God of the universe to look down on us (Ps. 113:5-6), sees that we are sinners (Rom. 5:8) and because His love is everlasting and loves all that He has made(Ps. 136; 145:17), He has sent is one and only Son (John 3:16), so that we might take the water of life freely and spend eternity with Him in Heaven (Rev. 22:17). • The POWER of love is to inspire, arouse, encourage, stimulate and produce everything that God requires of us in this world.

  8. Christian’s Greatest Command • A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:34-35) • If you love me, keep my commands (John 14:15) • Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23)

  9. Christian’s Greatest Command • Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” (John 14:21-24)

  10. Christian’s Greatest Command • 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command (John 15:12) • This is my command: Love each other. (John 15:17)

  11. Christian’s Greatest Command Love is a choice No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. (John 16:27) Love is a command This is my command: Love each other. Love is action Therefore go and make disciples…teaching them to obey all everything that I commanded you. (Matt.28:19-20)
