NIMBUS Status Report II Caleb Fangmeier(Presenting) Ryan Rasmussen Maggie Krause Brett Mahnke Jiajun Yang
Milestones • Complete Quadcopter assembly • 11/2/2012 FINISHED: 11/9/2012 • Requirements Document • 11/2/2012 FINISHED: 11/14/2012 • Test Quadcopter hardware • 11/14/2012 IN PROGRESS • Communication Options document • 11/30/2012 IN PROGRESS
Assembly Progress • Assembly is finished* • Received replacement parts, installed and working • Some debugging still necessary
Requirements Progress • Group has been mostly concentrating on requirements elicitation analysis • Testability? • Drilling down into details
Other Progress • Researching for and creating document on the communication options for direct connection between drone and Android/iPhone. • Configuring hardware of copter • Initial tests showed only two rotors were spinning. Further investigation needed.
Plans for next (2) week(s) • Complete communications document • Fix/Complete copter configuration • Manual flight test • Autonomous flight test
Issues/Risks • Possibility of broken parts • Keep spare copies of high-risk parts on hand to avoid delays • Outdoor testing • Inclement weather(eg. too windy) could result in test delays.
Problems • Current faulty configuration of copter • RC Transmitter (handheld) is very complex and will require research to find the functions of all the controls.
