  3. CREDITS (Pg. 6) • English 4 • Math 3 Algebra 1 (1) Geometry (1) Algebra 2, or alternate course (1) The third credit may be completed through election of an alternative math credit but a waiver must be signed to replace Algebra 2

  9. How Credits are Earned • .5 credit is earned for each class, each semester. • 6 classes per semester is 3.0 credits (.5 credit x 6 classes) • 3.0 credits x 2 semesters = 6.0 credits for 1 year

  10. Staying on Track (pg 13) • End of 9th = 6.0 credits (at least 5.5) • End of 10th = 12.0 credits (at least 11.0) • End of 11th = 18.0 credits (at least 16.5) • You must have at least 16.5 credits when you start your 12th grade year to be on track to graduate.

  18. PLANNING FOR 11TH GRADE • You have been assigned an English class and a Math class. If these need to be changed later, they will be changed. • You will take U.S. History, or AP U.S. History • Continuing past 2 year s of Science is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to get into a 4 year college

  19. PLANNING FOR 11TH GRADE • Most of you will choose one or two elective courses. • Need your 2nd year of language? You should forecast for the next level of the same language you took this year. • DO NOT FORECAST FOR THE SAME CLASS YOU TOOK THIS YEAR, IN ANY SUBJECT, UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

PLANNING FOR 11TH GRADE • If you plan to take Skills Center course, or Running Start, please forecast a full schedule at Bay and we will make changes later. • If you plan to take Welding or Culinary ArtsProgram of Choice at Fort, YOU MUST TURN IN AN APPLICATION. Your counselor will sign your application after reviewing it and confirming that you will be able to meet Graduation Requirements.

  21. PLANNING FOR 11TH GRADE • Do you need CREDIT RECOVERY? • If you are going to finish 10th grade with fewer than 11.5 credits, talk to your counselor. You will need to make a plan to get on track.

  22. PREREQUISITES • Check to make sure you qualify to take the courses you choose. • Not all courses are available to all grade levels • Some courses require that you have already successfully completed other courses first.

  23. Alternate Courses • Choose 3 elective courses that you would like in the case you do not get all of your first picks. • YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO GET ALL OF THE CLASSES YOU CHOOSE, SO IF YOU DO NOT PICK ALTERNATES, WE CHOOSE COURSES FOR YOU.

  24. USING COURSE CODES • COURSE CODES ARE ENTERED FOR EACH SEMESTER A COURSE IS TAKEN. • FIRST (1ST) SEMESTER COURSES TYPICALLY END IN “1”, EXAMPLE: 6711 = PE, 1STSEMESTER. • SECOND (2ND) SEMESTER COURSES TYPICALLY END IN “2”, EXAMPLE: 6712 = PE, 2ND SEMESTER.
