  1. ASKAP Science and User Policy Science and User Policy is a Project of the ASKAP theme. SUP Team : Simon Johnston Ilana Feain (Project Scientists) Neeraj Gupta (Postdoc) 2007: The year of the science cases!

  2. Configurations Recommendation #1: With 30 antennas need to reconfigure on 2-3 yr timescales Recommendation #2: With 45 antennas construct a hybrid array to enable simultaneous science Memos available for comment in the next 10 days

  3. User Policy - what is it? • Data access policy • Archives and databases access policy • Quality control, how and when? • Need for TAC • Who can apply? • Large / Small time fraction? VLBI time? • ToO, NAPA policy • Scheduling, maintenance, commissioning time • Define Key Projects and how to implement them • Rules for external partners and/or providers of hardware/software • 5 year and 30 year ASKAP cycle • Not operations - but must fit with AT operations plan

User Policy - Timetable • Start up meetings - May • Terms of Reference for UP - mid June • User community consultation - throughout 2008 • ASA talk by Ray Norris in 2007, wiki page • ATUC meetings now and late 2008 • Plan to talk again at ASA 2008 • Visits to the various institutions, community feedback • Form UP Task Force • Draw on expertise from other projects • Drafting document - August through November • ASKAP User Policy - mid December
