  2. 2nd Reprocessing Cycle - Overview • Reprocessing Period • Full mission: July 2002  Operational Switch of updated processors • Processor Versions • Level 1b: Version 6.03 • Level 2: Version 3.01 • Processing Sequence • Not a single SCIAMACHY L0Level 2 operational processor • Reprocessing separated • Level 1b will be initiated before Level 2 reprocessing • Level 2 is expected to “catch up” quickly • Possible δ-verification activities coordinated with the SQWG • Time for completion • Depends on • processing availabilities • impact of recent changes in the ESA Ground Segment • Expected to be significantly faster that the 1st reprocessing campaign

  3. 2nd Reprocessing Cycle - Level 1 • Configuration: • Level 1b IPF version 6.03 • Improvements see SQWG presentation • Production: D-PAC • Based on consolidated L0 data set • Reconsolidated dataset including corrective reprocessing (2002 – 2005 completed, 2006 reconsolidation ongoing) • AIX-IBM environment • Dissemination: • Standard dissemination via FTP • Other options will be considered on request

  4. 2nd Reprocessing Cycle - Level 1 Schedule • Level 1 Processor: • Prototype Verification successfully completed (SQWG) • Factory Acceptance Test successfully completed (ESA/SQWG) • On-Site Acceptance Test currently ongoing (ESA/SQWG) • Activation for forward processing in CW 28 (9-13 July 2007) • Start reprocessing planned for 2nd half of July 2007 • Time required for reprocessing: • Depends on processing availabilities and performance • New Ground Segment concept introduced • Consolidated estimate will be provided based on the first set of processed files

  5. 2nd Reprocessing Cycle - Level 2 • Configuration: • Level 2 OL version 3.01 • Improvements see SQWG presentation • Production: D-PAC • Based on consolidated Level 1 data set (IPF 6.03) from the reprocessing • LINUX Environment • Dissemination: • Standard dissemination via FTP

  6. 2nd Reprocessing Cycle - Level 2 Schedule • Schedule (in Coordination with SCIAMACHY QWG): • Level 2 • Verification completed end of June (SQWG) • Acceptance Test expected second week of July 2007 (ESA/SQWG) • Activation for forward processing End of July 2007 (ESA) • Start reprocessing Beginning of August (ESA) • Time required for reprocessing: • Depends on processing availabilities • Consolidated estimate will be provided based on the first set of processed files

  7. Outlook • SCIAMACHY QWG plans to provide a new processor baseline 1st quarter 2008 • Expected changes are significant • Justification for new reprocessing activity • Possible 3rd reprocessing campaign 2nd half 2008 • Coordination with QWG and SCIAVALIG • Level 1b IPF LINUX based
