During the reign of the third king, TulliusHostilius, Rome went to war against Alba Longa. There is, however, a problem with war – people die unnecessarily.
It just so happened that both sides had a set of triplets! What are the odds? odds of having triplets… 1 in 8,100!
Horatii brothers = RomeCuriatii brothers = Alba Longa These six men would battle it out. The town of the losers would be destroyed.

1. All three Curiatii brothers were wounded 3. The remaining Horatii brother starts to run 2. Two of the Horatii were killed 4. He is chased by the Curiatii
The Curiatii were wounded, so they had trouble keeping up. When only one of the Curiatii brothers remained, the Horatii brother stopped running and killed the Curiatii brother. Then, he doubled back and killed the other two.
But it wasn’t over… The Horatii triplets had a sister. That sister was engaged to one of the Curiatii triplets. She is now a little bit upset!
The remaining Horatii brother was enraged. “Any woman who mourns for an enemy of Rome must be killed!” So he killed her…
