History The Columns Banquets was established in 2005 in Elma, New York. It is strategically located on the corner of Seneca Street and Transit Road. Columns books an average of 275 events per year. With spacious floor plans, it can accommodate groups of up to 160 people. This space is used to hold many different types of events such as: • Weddings • Business Meetings • Bridal Showers • Funeral breakfasts • Sports Banquets
Business Problem • All planning concerning an event is hand- written on one piece of paper. • If the paper is lost, all of the details regarding the event are gone. • Columns has expanded their business and need an efficient way to store customers information, event details, employees working, and payment of events.
Why is a Database is Useful? • Make event planning more organized • Managers can access information quickly • Customers information is stored for future events • Employees shifts are linked directly with specific events
Database Design Overview Entity Relationship Diagram:
Features • User friendly forms and sub-forms based off of five tables with options to add records, delete record, see next record, and print. • Organized reports which links customers and events, employees and shifts, customers and payments, and employees and events. • Macros which automatically open a main menu and allow user to close or print reports.
