  1. Trans EiC Report Fei-Yue Wang IEEE Trans on ITS EiC feiyue@ieee.org ITSS BOG meeting Madeira, Portugal September 19, 2010

  2. Current Status (*) estimated value

  3. CurrentBackLog Our current backlog is: 44 accepted papers (440 estimated pages) It was 25 papers last February (+76%).

  4. Page Budget for 2011 Half of the papers in the backlog (22 papers, 220 pages) will be included in next December Issue. At the end of the year, 22 remaining papers will not be published. We may increase the page budget of 220 pages! (+22%) 2011 page budget wouldbe 1228 pages

  5. Transactions Growth (*) estimated values

  6. Transactions Performance (*) Papers revised and never resubmitted

  7. Transactions Performance The Avg. Time from Submission to Final Decision is worsening from 2004 to 2008. (*)2009 data are not significative since 22% of the papers are still under review

  8. Transactions Performance Starting from Q4 2009, IEEE monitors the performance of our journal with the following report: In Q1 2010 we had the worst performance among 59 journals included in the report.

  9. Transactions Performance Wehavetoincrease the performance ofourTransactions! • HOW: • by reducing the time given to authors to revise a paper: • major changes: 4 months (was 6) • minor changes: 2 months (unchanged) • by adopting a “strict” deadline policy for revision submission: • late authors will have to start a new submission • by monitoring and putting more pressure on Associate Editors

  10. AE Performance • In order to improve AE performance: • set up automatic reminders in ScholarOne web site to be sent when AE are late; • run monthly the AE performance report to monitor AEs behavior; • send monthly to each AE his own copy of the report and eventually remind late tasks.

  11. AE Performance Report

  12. Scholar1 Administration • In the first half of 2010, the Editor Assitant worked with IEEE and ScholarOne support to manage ITS Magazine submissions with the same ScholarOne web site of Transactions. First Magazine paper has been submitted on August 28 2010. • The implementation required an intense self-training on Scholar1 architecture. ITS MAGAZINE IMPLEMENTATION

  13. Scholar1 Administration AEs Performance • In August 2010, after a deep study of the new reporting functionalities enabled in Oct 2009, the Editor Assistant restored the AE performance report that ScholarOne was no longer able to support after version migration in June 2008. • The knowledge of Scholar1 architecture gained during ITS Magazine implementation allowed the Editor Assistant to find a way to set up reminders to monitor AEs tasks.

  14. Undergoing Special Issues

  15. Other Activities • Best Editor Awards to Prof. U. Nunes, S.C. Wong, L. Vlacic (Sept 2010, Madeira Island) • Top 10 Committee: best 10 papers in 2000-2009 and best 10 papers in 2010 • T-ITS blog site
